Hate to tell you, but the old vomit/diarrhea bug is back this week.

Fortunately, this one seems to be short-lived: kids start feeling better in a day or two. Just make sure kids don’t get dehydrated while fighting this off. A vomit/diarrhea bug + an ER visit is NOT something you want on your Christmas list.

Rethink Holiday Travel to Brazil

If you’re considering travel to Brazil over the holidays, you might want to reconsider…especially if you’re pregnant.

Here’s the scoop:

The AAP just came out with an alert for travelers to Brazil because of the Oropouche virus that’s going around there.

Symptoms of Oropouche virus disease include abrupt fever, severe headache, chills, myalgia and arthralgia, according to the CDC. People also may experience photophobia, dizziness, retroorbital or eye pain, nausea/vomiting or a maculopapular rash that starts on the trunk and goes to the extremities. It is not uncommon for symptoms to recur days or weeks after initial onset. About 4% of patients develop neurological symptoms.
